Last year 27,023,000 US Citizens took 58,496,587 international trips. 80% of these trips were for pleasure or to visit family members. Overseas travelers and their information are most vulnerable during transit. There are myriad ways to protect yourself and your information! Did You Know?

1)Check with your security team to ensure there are no travel restrictions to your destination. 2)Register with the State Departments Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). 3)Inform your credit card company/bank that you will be using cards abroad. 4)Practice good OPSEC! Before You Go

Do not put phones and laptops in checked baggage. Hard drives may be imaged and data/devices may be stolen. Ditto on other valuable items: leave the jewels at home! Beware of sensitive conversations anywhere. Not a work trip? Make your companions happy- dont discuss work! Work trip? Discuss sensitive matters in the office. While Abroad

You should have no expectation of privacy abroad…even in your hotel room! Bugged rooms, recorded calls, and searches of luggage while travelers are away are known collection techniques. Consider the use of a dedicated travel laptop and cellphone with no personal data on it. Perform a virus scan on all electronic before departure and upon return and encrypt your data! If possible, avoid the use of computer or fax equipment. They may be monitored for password collection or sensitive data. Computer/Electronics Security

Report anything suspicious to your security team. Made some new friends while abroad? Make sure to report foreign contacts! Monitor the credit cards you took on vacation. Save your travel itinerary. Upon Return
