Science Class Expectations

Class Expectations Be Kind and Respectful Be on Time Be Prepared Stay in your seat Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking Follow directions the first time they are given.

Entering the Classroom Go straight to your seat I don’t assign seats unless there is a problem Voice Level 1 (whispers-only the person you are talking to should be able to hear you) Clear everything off your desk Except for your science binder, planner, and a writing utensil. Read the bellwork on the smartboard and complete any task listed in the order they are written. See the CHAMPS poster next to the smartboard if you forget the expectation for bellwork.

Exiting the Classroom End of Class During Class In an Emergency (fire) Gather all of your belongings (check and double check) Girls line up in front of smartboard Boys line up in front of large white board Voice level 0 During Class Take all necessary items Make sure you have a pass In an Emergency (fire) Leave everything in the room Immediately exit the room and exit the building through the door 7 We meet in the track

Hall Passes Should only be used in an Emergency. Do not leave the room while I am instructing. If you must leave, the first 5 minutes of class is the best time BUT make sure you have turned in any due assignments BEFORE you leave. You are responsible for anything you miss while out of the class. Extra time will not be given to complete assignments Use the Hall Pass Log to record your destination and time you left and return Make sure that you have gotten my attention without disrupting the class to let me know you are leaving. Hall Passes must be signed. If I am instructing or helping students use the “Super Star” stamp in place of my signature. You must use non-verbal signals to let me know what you are doing. Example- show me the stamp and the pass. Once the Hall Pass is used, you must place it in the basket located on the table by my desk

Supplies inch 3 ring Binder with tabs labeled: Bellwork, Notes, Grade Sheet, Homework/Lab and Vocabulary. 2 Writing utensils sharpened pencils (mechanical are preferred) or pens Loose leaf paper The following are helpful to have Scissors, glue stick, calculator, colored pencils or crayons

Grading Homework= 5% Will NOT be accepted late Due the day after assigned unless otherwise noted Scoring- 2=fully complete, 1=partially complete, 0=not completed or present at time of grading, EX=student was absent the day it was due or the day it was assigned. Formative Assessments- 35% Will be accepted up to 2 days after the due date for partial credit 50% will be deducted from any assignment not turned in on the due date Summative Assessments -60%

Grading All assignments are due at the BEGINNING of class. Instructions for turn in will be listed as the first task in the bellwork. You are responsible for all assignments given during an absence from class regardless of whether or not they will be graded. Extra worksheets can be found in the grade level column of the red hanging thing in the back of the room Grades are updated weekly on Sunday.
