EP guidance was sought on the following topics: Approval of the new format of Product Catalog, available at https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/smcd/GCC/ProductCatalogImages.php GPPA - Demo Phase -: A comprehensive discussion on GPPA ensued ( see following slides) New exceptions a) RAC files –single/multiple, applied to DCC product. J1-CrIS and IASI-B are not yet GSICS references. GSICS Cloud, Internet and Wiki presence : Actions were generated to address this point NOAA-GCC-GDWG <-> WMO need collaboration/cross visits to harmonize cloud usage and meet future demands of data warehousing and publishing. 4. GSICS, 3-G and WIGOS: Actions were generated to address this point There has been increased collaboration between GNSS – GRUAN – GSICS. Within the WIGOS system this has made a highly positive impact contributing to vital validation activities of L1B Climate records and direct instrument monitoring particularly in the Microwave and IR wavelengths. We now have GSICS POC in GRUAN and GRUAN POC in GSICS Should regular updates be provided to EP on 3G and WIGOS ? Should we have a GSICS POC in WIGOS ?

2. Fast Tracking maturity. EP Guidance EP Guidance needed for GPPA A. For Classical products we can wave off the Users’ Guide requirement. Perhaps prepare a common users’ guide. B. A common ATBD also can be prepared. This would lessen documentation required in GPPA (Might help MTSAT-2 Himawari 8/9 and COMS). We could seek of these information: Uncertainty estimates OR Regular use of inter-calibration coefficients OR Maturity of L1B radiances (Mitch Goldberg et al.) EP was sought on assigning maturity to products that have stopped being generated.

2. GPPA Discussions and Actions Discussion: Relax the requirement for a User Guide for classical GSICS products. Discussion: Relax the requirement for Uncertainty analysis. This can be complimented by an Impact Report showing the benefit of using Cross-Calibration products. Promotion could weigh whether Input L1B measurements are taken from Operational data processing streams of host agencies. A.GCC.201806 01.10 GCC to simplify and stream line GPPA checklist and share it with members to fast track maturity; Start with KMA and JMA. GCC A.GCC.201806 01.11 GCC to provide recommendations on new processing and science maturity levels for GSICS products and services

3. GSICS Cloud, Internet and Wiki presence The GCC registered the gsicswiki.net domain for the next five years. It is envisaged that this will help to reduce the overhead of porting the GSICS wiki from the UMD Atmospheric and Oceanic Science Department to the UMD ESSIC. GCC-GDWG-NOAA maintain the GSICS Product Catalog. WMO is moving to a cloud infrastructure. NOAA has access to cloud infrastructure ( Azure, Google, AWS). Its accessibility for GSICS is being explored. A.WMO.20180601.7-1 WMO to provide information on WMO cloud to NOAA-GDWG. Information sought includes(Visibility, Ability to download data, Disk Space and Redundancy) WMO

4. GSICS, 3-G and WIGOS In the lead up to the Microwave Subgroup’s initiative with GRUAN with the aim of using GRUAN measurements to validate GSICS monitoring, the EP gave the following action to the GCC. A.GCC.201806 01.8 GCC to contact GRUAN POC in GSICS ( Tony/Ralph/Cheng-Zhi) to submit yearly updates on 3G (GRUAN-GSICS-GNSS) collaboration to EP GCC EP-20 GCC
