Tape straw to card as shown. Fasten other end of the string Tie a washer to one end of a piece of string. Fasten other end of the string to the card as shown.

It is now time to use the Quadrant

from your eyes to the ground Locate the flag pole. Measure the distance from your eyes to the ground The height of the flag pole ‘h’ is equal to the sum of the two distances. Measure your distance from the flag pole. The height of segment ‘d’ is equal to the distance you are from the flag pole. Continue walking until your string hangs at a 45o angle. Back away from the flag pole while sighting to the top of the pole.
