Fig. 1 Pathogens and their components target lipid rafts. Lipid rafts and caveolae are microdomains within host cell membranes that are targeted by various pathogens, including bacteria, parasites, and viruses. Pathogens and their components may interact with lipid rafts to promote internalization or communication with the host cell through the many signalling molecules enriched at these sites.
