Contingency Planning Also known as ‘business continuity planning’ or ‘disaster recovery planning’ Preparing the immediate steps to be taken in the event of a crisis or emergency Crises such as fire, floods, illness of key staff, damage to stock, IT system failure Effective contingency planning allows a business to take steps to minimise the potential impact of a disaster.

Contingency Planning Key Steps in Contingency Planning: Identify potential disasters Assess the likelihood of these occurring Minimise the potential impact of the crisis Effective planning can help remove risk altogether Plan for continued operations.
