Berea College Berea College is a liberal arts work college in the city of Berea, in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is located in Madison County, approximately 35 miles south of Lexington. Founded in 1855, Berea College is distinctive among post- secondary institutions for providing free education to students and for having been the first college in the Southern United States to be coeducational and racially integrated. Berea College charges no tuition; every admitted student is provided the equivalent of a four-year, full-tuition scholarship

Undergraduate Research Creative Projects Program Our program has been going on for a number oy years (20?). It involves all departments on campus from arts, music, child and family studies to the more traditional disciplines, (biology, chemistry, mathematics physics). About 20 projects are funded every summer and about 40 -50 students carry out research projects. We have a luncheon seminar throughout the summer where the students present their results. In October, the students present their project/research during our campus wide symposium.

UR Program Director Profile Martin Veillette At Berea College for ten years. Chair of the Undergraduate Research Program for the last two years. Committee is made of six faculty with one support staff. Responsible for call for proposal, funding decisions, administering research surveys, reports to donors, organize luncheon seminar and summer activities
