Monday, October 13th, 2014 Standards: Read closely to determine what the text says; Determine two or more themes in our play Target: Students will again go over the themes in Othello. They will also start to analyze character development in Act 2. Warmup/Activator: Closing questions from Friday; Journal 28 Work Session: Theme project; Reading Act 2 Closing: Closing questions

Recap! 1) Write me a paragraph summary of what is going on. (Lets just discuss this) 2) Who are your favorite characters? 3) Does Iago have enough cause to do what he is doing to Othello? What was the other reason that Iago hates Othello?

Themes Okay, first lets list what some of the main themes are in Othello

Did we get them right? Jealousy Love or True Love Racial Prejudice Deception/Manipulation Trust Marriage

Now, we are going to use these as a theme project Now, we are going to use these as a theme project! Don't worry its not a hard project, and it will all be done in class! Each day you will have 10-15 minutes to work with your group and brainstorm this project. Here are the guidelines: Needs to be colorful and professionally done Must include ALL acts of Othello (5) Must include at least 2 pictures Under these acts you need a 2-4 examples of your theme You also need to include 2-4 quotes about this theme

The reason I moved you was because of this project The reason I moved you was because of this project. The people around you will be your theme project group. Now take the next 10-15 minutes and brainstorm your theme from act 1! Remember: Needs to be colorful and professionally done Must include ALL acts of Othello (5) Must include at least 2 pictures Under these acts you need a 2-4 examples of your theme You also need to include 2-4 quotes about this theme

Moving on. So we have finished all of act one and almost all of Act 2 Moving on! So we have finished all of act one and almost all of Act 2. We are going to finish reading Act 2 today. So lets all turn to Act 2 scene 3 and here are your choices. 1) We can read this together. BUT I need to see everyone participating. OR 2) We can all individually read silently and you may have your phones out to look at No Fear Shakespeare. Your choice! This scene is pretty long so lets get started!

Closing Answer the following Questions: 1) What happened in this scene? 2) How does Iago set up Cassio? 3) What happens to our poor Cassio? 4) How is Iagos plan coming together? Turn in to me at the end of class or finish for homework!
