“Is Summer Vacation Bad for You?” ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY

My Hook = Anecdote Summer vacation was fantastic, but now classes are back in session! The first week of school is a blur of paperwork and review, and I feel the panic building up as I desperately try to remember math equations that I learned almost a year ago. Maybe the sun has truly baked my brain!

TRANSITION SENTENCE Even though my summer was enjoyable, I wonder if I would have had these same problems if our summer vacation was not so long. Would multiple breaks throughout the school year be a better alternative?

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE… Many educational experts believe that the U.S. public education system is in danger of failing and that our students have already fallen behind many other countries. Therefore, our governmental officials are looking into year-round school as a possible solution.

THESIS STATEMENT I think year-round school would benefit students greatly.

INTRODUCTION (put it all together) Summer vacation was fantastic, but now classes are back in session! The first week of school is a blur of paperwork and review, and I feel the panic building up as I desperately try to remember math equations that I learned almost a year ago. Maybe the sun has truly baked my brain! Even though my summer was enjoyable, I wonder if I would have had these same problems if our summer vacation was not so long. Would multiple breaks throughout the school year be a better alternative? Many educational experts believe that the U.S. public education system is in danger of failing. Our students have already fallen behind many other countries. Therefore, our governmental officials are looking into year-round school as a possible solution. I think year-round school would benefit students greatly.
