MEGA STRUCTURES BRIDGES
1. A simple beam bridge is a rigid horizontal structure supported by two ends called abutments. Beam bridges can span up to 500 meters in length. Most.

Bridge Designs Bridges are often built over huge landmasses or bodies of water. Their design depends on their function and location. We will take you through.

Bridges

Types of Bridges Girder or Beam Truss Arch Suspension Cable-Stayed

Girder or Beam Bridges Simplest type of bridge Consist of a beam supported on both sides by piers Shortest span

Truss Bridge Sometimes considered a type of beam bridge Span greater distances Consist of many beams placed in stable triangular shapes Distribute load more evenly over greater distances

Arch Bridge Curved shape Old design Stable but with a limited span Load is distributed evenly over both sides

Suspension Bridge & Cable-Stayed Bridge Have longest spans Use cables to suspend load Rope bridge to Golden Gate bridge Cable-Stayed Bridge Use cables in load distribution. Cables run diagonally from the towers to the girder.
