BroadBand Connect Kololo was launched at the end of July. BroadBand Connect stores are the different branches of BroadBand Company. And then the activities started in earnest…
In July, Uganda hosted the Smart Global Partnership summit at the Commonwealth Speke Resort at Munyonyo. BroadBand Company was one of about forty companies that participated in an exhibition at the summit. Above, BroadBand Company staff at the exhibition.
President Yoweri Museveni and Swazilands King Mswati were some of the VIPs that visited the stall.
Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe also visited the stall and also tested the BroadBand Company connection!
In August, BroadBand Company sponsored a photo exhibition organised by NEED (local NGO) at the East African Community Media Summit at Imperial Royale Hotel. BroadBand Company also sponsored a media centre for journalists. They were provided with a free internet connection and laptops so that they could send their stories to their media houses with ease. The media centre was extremely popular with journalists and other organisations have since approached BroadBand Company for the same sponsorship.
BroadBand Company also made her debut into the world of sports with a sh10m sponsorship package for the Uganda Rugby Union during the final leg of the Elgon Cup. BroadBand Company has also been involved in motor sport. Above, MD Arvid Knutsen meets Bob Roberts, winner of the Fostino Rally (October 2009). Roberts branded his car with BroadBand Company colour and logo. BroadBand Company also sponsored him in the October rally.
During the Annual International Trade Fair at UMA Lugogo Show grounds, the BroadBand Company was one of the few selected to host Vice President Gilbert Bukenya. Above, MD Knutsen takes Prof. Bukenya around the BroadBand Company tent.
