See Me -By a former ELL student 3-30-16 Argentina – Pictures all came from google images.

See me I am here I feel invisible See through

See me I am here I am important

You don’t understand me I can’t understand you You push me aside because seeing me means more work for you

I am worth it

My skin is brown, dark, light, butter and caramel

Hair in curls, straight, long, short, and wild

There is no one “us” See me

Enough is enough! How many more of my bothers and sisters will have to be broken down, devalued, lost?

Hear me! I have value, I matter, I exist

I lived before I ever met you I am not an empty vessel for you to fill

I do not have to be a replica of you Don’t mold me Don’t change me

Teach me Don’t ignore me See me!
