Intercellular transfer of tumor-derived HLA-G and CD86 proves immune-tolerogenic in myeloma. Intercellular transfer of tumor-derived HLA-G and CD86 proves immune-tolerogenic in myeloma. Malignant plasma cells in myeloma induce immune dysfunction by directly inhibiting activation of T cells and dendritic cells as well as indirectly through inducing regulatory T cells. In addition to soluble factors, physical contact including trogocytosis can mediate immune suppression. Professional illustration by Paulette Dennis.
