Advanced Environmental Management (AEM) Training Phase I Restoration

Environmental Cleanup Program JBLE-Eustis has spent approximately $60 Million on investigation and cleanup efforts to date Remaining cleanup costs estimated at $16 Million through FY17 The Army Environmental Cleanup Program includes the Army Defense Environmental Restoration Program (DERP), which is composed of the active installation and Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC) Installation Restoration Program (IRP) and Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) categories, and the non-DERP Compliance-related Cleanup (CC) Program. 2

Are there any Restrictions Associated with These Sites? YES, there are a few… Fishing Restrictions Catch and release only Eustis Lake No Fishing Brown’s Lake Many of these sites have restrictions associated with them in order to protect human health and/or the environment. For example, fish from Eustis Lake contain PCBs in concentrations that could pose a risk to humans if they eat the fish. For this reason, fishing restrictions have been implemented at this site. All fishing at Eustis Lake is on a “Catch and Release” basis only. Brown’s Lake has undergone a interim removal action which included draining the lake, installing a cap cover over the bottom of the lake, and site restoration, to include the re-stocking of fish. Fishing is currently not allowed at this site until a final remedial action has been completed and monitoring has indicated risks to human health and the environment have been reduced.
