GTECH 709 Course policies Attendance Special accommodations Plagiarism Lab policies Assignments

Attendance in an Online Course … sounds a bit like an oxymoron - but Online courses require more presence Your schedule is flexible but the work load is likely to be higher than in a regular course You need to be proactive and Ask questions (the instructor does not see your blank stare) Participate in discussion boards

Plagiarism Again one of those that sound off in an online course.* Jochen turns it the other way around. You are encouraged to Reuse data, procedures, ideas of others Work together, form study groups But: in your submissions, clearly mark up what is yours and what is from others * Although, who checks whether it is actually you taking the course?

Special Accommodations Special accommodations for persons with disabilities are provided upon request But you have to let us know asap, otherwise we won’t be able to address your needs, esp. if you are vision or hearing impaired All students with questions about this should consult the Office of AccessABILITY at (212)772-4857

Lab Policies Under Contact Information, we referred to the Geography computer labs. If you avail yourself of this resource: Do not lock and go away Use the lab for course and communication purposes only Do not install any software Save your data to the U:/ drive only

Assignments Each week, you will be asked to perform a range of small software exercises The exercises are linked to the PowerPoint lecture material and build one on top of the other You have to submit your assignments by the marked due date
