Chapter 1 New Member States

Append NUTS regulation “Statistical regions” will become NUTS on day of accession to EU (1 May 2004) Annex 1 of NUTS regulation will be appended with list of regions in new Member States Annexes 2 and 3 will also be appended

NUTS regions in new Member States So far Hungary is the only New MS to have defined regions at NUTS level 1

NUTS regulation will become valid for new MS 3-year moratorium will be synchronised with old Member States (1st period: 2004-2006) Same obligations to send information as for EU Lists of LAU CONC/MODA reports Data transmissions as for EU

Technical adaptations Codes will change to NUTS standard trailing zeros Extraterritorial region (HUZZZ) Level 1 to be introduced 30 April 2004 Hungary agreed Poland? Czech Republic?

Publication NUTS 2004” for EU-25 in PDF format RAMON classifications server will be updated

Databases NewCronos and Regio Data for regions in New MS will be moved from “x” tables to main tables Table structure slightly different “x” tables will be kept for EFTA and remaining candidate countries

Chapter 2 Candidate Countries

Remaining and new candidate countries “Statistical Regions” will be maintained New publication in 2004 incl. Turkey incl. Croatia (if agreement reached) RAMON will be updated when necessary We continue the co-operation with CC:s

Statistical Regions in Candidate Countries after 1 May 2004 A level 1 needs to be defined in BG and RO
