In our individualistic culture, it is common practice for us to look for our life’s purpose as it relates to ourselves alone… apart from others. This simply doesn’t match Scripture.
The Creation Story tells us that humans are created in the image of a “Divine Community” (Genesis 1: 26-27) and that Adam was not ‘whole’ as a human in living by himself; even within the paradise of Eden (Gen. 2:18).
Although we certainly believe that God is present in the midst of our prayers and personal times of worship & devotions; Jesus makes it clear that being unified with others in His Name unlocks a special degree of His Power.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two people are better than one, (NCV) “Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together.”
Beyond our ability to know and recite Scripture or stand up to atheism and other religions; Jesus claims that the primary way that people will be won over to His Kingdom is by Christians showing authentic love to each other.
Although loving each other within the church is a command of God; He longs for us to do it freely as a natural outgrowth of our common bond in Christ and because of the grace of Jesus.
“Why We Need Each Other” 1. I need others to walk with me. 2. I need others to work with me. 3. I need others to watch out for me. 4. I need others to wait with me and to weep with me. 5. I need others to witness with me.
