Mobile Lab Basics

Each of our Mobile Labs contains 24 netbooks for your students to use in the classroom. The charging cart provides wireless internet access.

Each cart includes a basic information sheet. Also located at this end are the cables.

One cable is for POWER. This one must be plugged to the wall in order for the laptop batteries to charge. The other cable is the network cable. This must be connected to a drop when you want internet access for the laptops.

You will receive a key with the Lab; please keep the computers locked up when not in use.

Once you open the side doors, you will see that the computers slide into charging docks, 12 on each side. When the green tab is up, the laptop is docked and ready to charge.

Please do not allow students to remove or return the laptops to their charging slots. Remove a laptop by pushing down the green tab and sliding the computer out. To return for charging, gently slide the laptop into the slot until the green tab clicks up. DO NOT FORCE…

Using the laptops is a snap. Open it up and push the power button to start.

When the computer starts up, students will choose the user on the right (not Administrator), and log in with our building password.

Now students can proceed with their assignments. These laptops can accommodate a flash drive, SD card, and headphones.

When students are finished with the laptops, please make sure that they are shut down properly: Start button > Shut down

Laptops should be returned to the cart for charging at the end of the day.

Please let the Media Center staff know if you have any problems or questions, or if there are programs that you would like to see installed on the laptops.
