Population Structures

Population structures The rate of natural increase, the birth rates, the death rate and life expectancy all affect the population structure of a country. Life expectancy – is the number of years that the average person born in a country can expect to live.

Population structure The population structure of a country can be shown by a population pyramid. Population pyramids are sometimes known as age-gender pyramids.

Population structure A population pyramid shows The males on the left and the females on the right. The number of each gender in percentages at the base. The age groups divided into 5 year groups.

Population Pyramids Characteristics of population pyramids include: Wide bases show that the countries population is relatively young.
