Homeroom -Daily Schedule -Special Schedule -Morning Work and Check-in Monday: Integrated Arts Tuesday- Friday: P.E., Art, Music, and Library

Classroom Supplies Supplies = Key to Organization! –Take home folder –Reading and Science books should be covered --Music folder –Extra supplies at home in case your child needs replacement materials

Assignment Book •Needs to be signed every night Parents, please check for homework completion and sign or initial when your child has completed his/her work! •Will be checked at school daily •Will be written in by teacher if homework was not completed for each class (This homework will still need to be completed!)

Homework Expectations Math homework is usually given daily Monday thru Thursday. All other assignments will be given on an as-needed-basis to reinforce specific skills and concepts learned in class. All tests will be announced in class, and if needed, material should be reviewed at home. Students will be given credit for notebooks/packets completed as classwork and homework.

Homework Expectations Accelerated Reader – To build comprehension skills and foster reading fluency, students are required to read at home at least 5 nights a week for a minimum of 15 minutes. The students will be required to complete a short quiz during school hours to assess their comprehension on each book read. Their goal is 10 total points. If they miss a class for band, orchestra, etc., they should ask the teacher or a classmate for missed work. Always check our websites!

iPad Expectations -iPad needs to come to school charged everyday -Not calling home for iPads -Please let your teacher know if you do not have wifi at home - “Apples Up” - Apple classroom

ELA (English Language Arts) - Reading A series of leveled activities and resource materials exist to meet the varied needs of learners. Sample skills that are developed through these resources include: –Various types of literature (Main and Paired Selections) –Robust Vocabulary –Comprehension –Focus Skills –Fluency

ELA (English Language Arts) - Grammar • Punctuation (commas, titles, and quotation marks) •Types and Parts of Sentences –Declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative –Subjects, predicates, etc. –Simple, compound, and complex sentences •Parts of Speech –Nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, antecedents, articles, etc.

ELA (English Language Arts) - Writing •Weekly Writing/Journal Prompts •Writing Workshops –Narrative –Informational –Persuasive TDA (text dependent analysis)

ELA (English Language Arts) - Spelling •Harcourt StoryTown: Spelling Component •Thursdays: Lesson Tests •Optional Challenge Words - correct Words are added to a student’s grade for a maximum of 20/20 or given as bonus •Spelling lists online

Spelling Homework Homework will be distributed each Thursday or Friday. Students will select at least 3 activities on their tic-tac-toe board to complete throughout the week and turn in by Thursday. Please sign the bottom of this sheet to verify your child completed the marked activities. Feel free to cut the list off of the Tic-Tac-Toe homework to keep at home to prepare for the test on Thursday.

Reflex Math: Grade 4 Automaticity of basic math facts is important to form the building blocks for higher-level math concepts. Students will use Reflex Math on their iPad for basic math fact practice. Reflex Math incorporates games at every level to help students quickly gain math fact fluency and confidence. Rocket Math “Two-minute timings” will still be used for assessments. Rocket Math materials may still be used as a supplement to Reflex Math at individual teacher discretion.
