OPNET Simulation of Different Queuing Mechanisms Group 2 b Suheng Zhang Hoang Long Nguyen

I. Introduction General Queuing Mechanisms When packets propagate from the high speed network to a lower speed one or burst, traffic congestion may occurs. Queuing system is known as an essential part of most communication systems in order to alleviate traffic congestions. Different services have diverse requirements (different packet priorities) in network communications General Queuing Mechanisms FIFO : First in first out. PQ : Priority queuing. WFQ: Weight fair queuing. Representative Network Services File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Video Conference

II. Simulation

III. Result

Traffic Dropped

Traffic Received

End-to-end Delay

Conclusion The effect of each queuing discipline on different services. Choose the appropriate queuing discipline to achieve best performance depending on purpose of each system.
