Coefficient Used to Multiply the Variable Example 9x (9 is the coefficient)
Variable The unknown value we are trying to solve Example: 9x (x is the variable)
Constant The number by itself without a variable 2 is a constant
Operator A symbol that tells you what to do (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide)
Terms Terms are part of an expression or an equation separated by a “+” sign or a “-” sign.
Expression An expression is a group of terms separated by a addition sign or a subtraction sign. There are different types of expressions such as binomial or trinomial.
Equation A statement saying that two things are equal to each other. Without an equal sign, you only have an expression.
