Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians REVIEW Additional Information Re: Outline PROPOSITION 1 Paul’s message came from God…it did not come from men 1:11 PROPOSITION 2 Justification is by faith, not works of law 2:16 PROPOSITION 3 One can’t walk in the Spirit if he doesn’t live by the Spirit 5:1, 16-18

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians REVIEW Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 In the final part of his epistle, Paul continues to show the Galatians how they were to use what he’s been teaching It wasn’t enough just to reject the Judaizers They were to put his doctrine into practice in everyday living (Application) They are “justified by faith, not by works” 2:16 They had “the Spirit of His Son put into their hearts” 4:6 How do Spirit-led saints act, behave?

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians REVIEW Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 If walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit 5:1 – 6:18 If set free, don’t return to bondage 5:1-12 If set free, treat others honorably 5:13-15 If set free, keep yourself faithful 5:16-26 If set free, fulfill responsibilities to others 6:1-10

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 If walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit 5:1 – 6:18 If set free, fulfill responsibilities to others 6:1-10 Restore unfaithful brethren v. 1 Requires being “spiritual” to do this 1 Cor 2:14-15 Defining “restore” Mt 4:21 1 Cor 1:10 Done in the “spirit of gentleness” 5:23 Remembering your own susceptibility Rom 3:23

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 If walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit 5:1 – 6:18 If set free, fulfill responsibilities to others 6:1-10 Bear faithful brethren’s load vv. 2-5 Fulfills the law of Christ v. 2 5:14 Mt 22:36-40 Our connection within the body of Christ makes this a necessity and a blessing 1 Cor 12:26a We should not be so conceited that we aren’t willing to help others, their load v. 3 (“For…”) Before forming an opinion re: others and their load, a brother should “examine” himself, his own load vv. 4-5 Mt 7:1-5

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 If walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit 5:1 – 6:18 If set free, fulfill responsibilities to others 6:1-10 Use material blessings for others vv. 6-10 (saint & sinner alike) No room for selfishness 5:13 The one taught should share with the one who teaches v. 6 Lk 9:1-4 1 Cor 9:11 2 Jn 9-11 Such is “spiritual sowing & reaping” vv. 7-9 1 Tim 6:6-10, 17-19 REMINDER...God cannot be mocked v. 7 (God established principles of “sowing” and “reaping” ages ago)

What if one could plant corn…

…and yield tomatoes?

One cannot plant this… …and expect to get this. Such would be “mocking” God (thumbing the nose at the process established long ago). God cannot be mocked.

7 To be done “…to all men, and especially to those of the household of faith” v. 10

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 If walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit 5:1 – 6:18 Concluding Remarks 6:11-18 Emphatic writing v. 11 Either for emphasis (i.e. bold, italics, underlining), or due to bodily injury 4:14-15 One last description of the Judaizers vv. 12-13 Paul’s “reason to boast” v. 14 2:20 5:24 The irrelevance of circumcision, and the “path” to true peace vv. 15-16 [i.e. rejection of the Judaizers]

Paul’s Epistle To The Galatians Lesson 7 – Galatians 6 If walk in the Spirit, live by the Spirit 5:1 – 6:18 Concluding Remarks 6:11-18 One final appeal to the Galatians v. 17 “From now on, let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus.” Perhaps a request from Paul for the Galatians to defend him, his apostleship, and his work he did among them? Closing admonition of grace & farewell v. 18

They claim it addresses the church 1:2 Comments Re: Gal 6:10 During the days of division (1950’s & 60’s), liberally-minded brethren claimed this passage authorized local churches to help needy unbelievers They claim it addresses the church 1:2 Therefore, the church could (must) send contributions from its treasury to human institutions to assist orphans, the aged, etc.

Comments Re: Gal 6:10 This verse addresses the individual, not the local church 5:2, 7, 13, 15 6:1-10 The context speaks to individual actions… whether addressed singularly or in the plural Liberally-minded brethren who abuse this passage re: helping unbelievers are wrong on 2 main points:

Comments Re: Gal 6:10 The N.T. authorizes local churches to offer benevolence only to saints (believers) Acts 2:44-45 Acts 4:32-35 Acts 6:1-6 Acts 11:27-30 Rom 15:25-31 1 Cor 16:1-3 2 Cor 8:4 2 Cor 9:1, 12-13 1 Tim 5:16

Comments Re: Gal 6:10 Even if the N.T. authorized local churches to assist unbelievers from the treasury, where is the authority for this arrangement? Local Church N E D Y Human Institution Orphanage Home For The Elderly 1 Cor 16:1-2 Saint (Spirit-led) $$ $$ $$
