Alliston BIA Downtown WIFI Project This exciting project demonstrates to our members and community partners that we are willing to invest in progressive initiatives to enhance our downtown ecosystem. These types of programs and technologies enhance the shopping experience of current customers, attract new customers and attract new businesses looking for a progressive commercial area to conduct business. Alliston Business Improvement Association RURBAN …The Best of Both Worlds The Alliston BIA WIFI Project was solely funded by the ABIA Members. In future, we anticipate that marketing opportunities will be presented to membership and will off-set any future maintenance costs. The project Leads were ABIA Communications Director Lachlan McGurk and ABIA Chair Mike Jerry. There was an extensive procurement process including interviews, discussions and quotes from WIFI companies; communication & research with the Town of New Tecumseth Staff and Councillors to ensure that this project came in on time and on budget. The first phase of the project is complete and running along Victoria Street. The second phase will be implemented in 2018/2019 and continue the FREE WIFI to the West end of our ABIA area. This project supports our RURBAN Branding for downtown Alliston and this innovative initiative validates Alliston as a viable, progressive centre of commerce.

FREE WIFI is already a value to visitors downtown. An Alliston resident came into the ABIA office just prior to Christmas. She was upset as she needed to send a parcel but had no way of printing the send slip. We were happy to help by printing this for her, however she said she had no data on her phone to email it to us. We were pleased to remind this local resident that the ABIA offers FREE WIFI downtown. She connected to our WIFI and sent it to us, we printed it and she walked away happy.
