HPCC Mid-Morning Break New Node Image

Why? (shaw / amd05) AMD nodes are running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 Unsupported for modern Infiniband, Lustre, commercial software Old GNU compilers, old libraries, old software Not 100% compatible for SLES9 -> SLES 10

Why? (brody / intel07) Infiniband Update Faster Infiniband-native Lustre Faster MPI programs New Intel Compilers and Libraries System Update Stability Fixes

Queue / node changes Single software image everywhere. Compile once, run anywhere* Route based on node attributes, e.g. Fat nodes temp space avail hardware types

What do I need to do? ssh to dev-amd05 or dev-intel07 Recompile recommended for serial required for MPI Run locally on the front-end nodes Try submitting to the new queue, main -q main –l nodes=X:ppn=Y:nodetype

Node Types amd05 – shaw (amd-xxx) intel07 – brody (scw-xxx) intel08 – fat nodes (sfn-xxx) intel09 – Nehalem node amd09 – fat nodes (afn-xxx)
