Warm-Up Get out the “explorer journal” you wrote yesterday and put your name on it. Answer the following questions somewhere on the paper: What can we learn from reading explorers’ journals? Would you consider these journals to be something that we MUST read? If a someone does read them, what is one thing he/she MUST learn from them?

What does voice (syntax and language) reveal? They selected women because these can trade everywhere, even if there be war. So we went on our way and traversed the whole country to the South Sea, and our resolution was not shaken by the fear of great starvation, which the Indians said we should suffer (and indeed suffered) during the first seventeen days of travel.
