Contraction Phase Contraction - Economic growth weakens and becomes a recession. EX: Stocks enter a bear market. Higher unemployment and lower wages   Ask students to explain how an increasing unemployment rate has a domino affect on the economy. Have someone look up on the internet what the current unemployment rate is.

Current Phase that Sweden is in Expansion - Sweden's economy is growing briskly. Thanks primarily to low interest rates, debt-driven consumer spending and domestic investment led the economy to grow 3.9% in 2015. But slower European growth has reduced net exports since the start of 2016. However, domestic consumption has outperformed and will enable output to grow by 3.3% in 2016. A pullback in investment coupled with a soft global recovery will slow GDP growth to 1.4% in 2017, and 1.0% in 2018. Ask students to explain how an increasing unemployment rate has a domino affect on the economy. Have someone look up on the internet what the current unemployment rate is.
