SAC No Child Left Behind What are SAC Basics?

School Advisory Councils Are . . . A diverse group of stakeholders of a school, established through Florida law, with the shared goal of increasing student achievement in a safe learning environment.

SAC Members SACs must consist of the Principal and an appropriately balanced number of teachers, staff, parents, community members and students. SACs must represent “the ethnic, racial and economic makeup of the community served by the school.” To achieve this, members may be appointed. The majority of SAC members (over 51%) may not be employed by the school on whose SAC they serve.

SAC Members continued . . . A SAC may have many participants (i.e. Assistant Principals, sub-committee members, etc.), but they should not be listed as official voting members. Elementary schools may have students participate, but students may not be listed as official members and may not vote.
