Public Sponsored Child Care Federal, State and Local governments support some child care services Head Start A preschool program for 4 & 5 year olds from low-income families, designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and mental needs of children & families Laboratory schools on college, technical school and high school campuses

Private Sponsored Day Care Day care centers supported by private owners These are “for profit” of the owners Can be chains, like McDonalds! One example of a child care chain is the Appletree Day Care Centers Day care centers supported by non-profit organizations Churches or hospitals can offer day care for non-profit

Employer Sponsored Day Care Some companies provide child care in various forms as a service/benefit to their employees On-site day care centers Off-site day care centers Vouchers (“gift certificates”) for child care expenses Sick child day care centers

Day Care… Choosing the right one for their children is one of the biggest decisions parents make!
