Superiority of differential equation methods in Thermofluids. Review of ordinary differential equations. Strum-Liouville theory. Initial-boundary value problems. Linear and Non-linear systems. Theory of linear homogeneous and nonhomogeneous equations. Non-linear systems: Series solutions of linear ordinary differential equations.
Syllabus : Phase 1 Special functions. PDEs, classification of PDEs: 1st & 2nd order PDE - Planar, cylindrical and spherical geometries, Homogeneous and non homogeneous PDEs. Stability and instability of regular system.
