Homework

Why are we reviewing this? Academy Priority 1 = Raise Achievement (a.b.c.d.e.) Academy Priority 2 = Quality of Teaching (b. c - The provision, delivery and monitoring of effective homework) Academy Priority 3 = Behaviour and Safety of students (c - Increased parental engagement to support pupil progress)

Impact – EEF Toolkit Moderate Impact Low Cost There are only 4 things that add more value than homework on the EEF toolkit and 6 others that are at the same level out of 34. Five months additional progress. Progress can vary between 3-8 months suggesting that how homework is set is likely to be very important.

Areas to focus. SLG Teachers use of SIMS. New pilot approach to Sanctions in Core subjects

Setting homework using SIMS How to close a homework demonstration with hand out Homework timetables sent out and published with hand out What can parents see?

Targets for all subjects Attendance Praise Points Every homework set on Sims

Exactly what you have written into Sims. Check literacy Blue = set but not at due date Red = not given in Green = given in One homework, per week, per subject as shown on the homework timetables

Examples of homework: currently on the system

Feedback from Faculties Consistency How to use Sims to its fullest. CPD on homework types.

Summary Homework can have a considerable impact on attainment with very little or no costs to the Academy. Raise aspirations and expectations that we have on our pupils, as proven recently with Uniform. Push for consistency in key areas to start. Such as Consequences / sanctions SLG/VLE When to set homework
