Schools in Tunisia

Primary School Children between the ages of 6-12 attend primary school. Children learn to read and write Arabic.

Preparatory School At the end of the sixth year students write an exam and if they pass they go to preparatory school. Students are between the ages of 12-14 and the lessons are taught in Arabic or French.

High School After preparatory school, students from the ages of 14-18 go to High School.

Children must go to school Children must go to school between the ages of 6-16.

Arabic Children learn to read and write Arabic. The Arabic language is written and read from right to left. There are 29 letters in the Arabic language. Some have small hooks and dashes above or below the letters. Capital letters are written at the end of the word or sentence.

School at Different Times Some schools have different schedules because there are too many students for each class so classrooms must be shared. One day a class may go to school from 7:30 to 10:00am and from 1:30 to 3:00pm. On another day the class may go from 10:00om to 12:30 pm.
