Chemical Monitoring activity Ad-hoc meeting on 11 April, main issues: Legally binding / Non-legally binding outcome Timetable concerns Clarify objectives and leadership As a result new version 5

Objectives Collect the existing information and best practices from CIS and others (e.g. marine conventions, river conventions, research projects etc.) on both SW and GW (EMMA contribution for marine) Exchange information on existing best practices among member states. Develop technical guidance and/or technical specifications on chemical monitoring Technical specification on methods performance and Quality Assurance/Quality Control to be adopted through comitology Assess and develop coordination needed at EU level to ensure comparability of WFD monitoring programmes and to coordinate requirements from various policies and conventions
