Digitizing the san Marcos cemetery Progress Report Johnathan Phillips Colton Love Daniel Tittle

Background City of San Marcos Collect data to map the cemetery Cemetery is getting full Partner with Texas State to gather data for Pontem

Tasks Collect GPS data for required portion of the San Marcos Cemetery Explore spatial resolution of available GPS devices Model the layout of the San Marcos Cemetery Apply the Pontem software methodology and file geodatabase architecture to collected data.

Progress on Task 1 Collect GPS data on sections A1-A3 in the Ramsay Addition In Progress Section A3 is completed after several trials of different collection methods. Met with Ron and Pete on the 19th and solidified data collection method. Collect data for the Section and Block boundary, we digitize the individual graves. Section A2 will be completed by the deadline.

Progress on Task 2 Explore spatial resolution of available GPS devices. Completed Three GPS units available The Trimble GeoXT has the most accuracy. 50 cm accuracy on average. Average of 7 satellites in the field.

Progress on Task 3 Model the layout of the San Marcos Cemetery In Progress Section A3 is completed - a preliminary map is on the next slide Further sections will be added as the data is collected Data collection and map creation will continue through week of November 19th

Progress on Task 4 Apply the Pontem software methodology and file geodatabase architecture to collected data. In Progress Most of A3 has had the attributes populated consistent with Pontems’ standard. Waiting on creating a file geodatabase until data is near complete.

Conclusion Everything is going well. We will continue to collect GPS data on almost every Monday and Wednesday. Post Processing of the GPS data happens either the day of collection or soon after. Changes to the attribute data may happen depending on how the Citys database is laid out.
