They can be positive or negative, depending on my outlook.

Routines & Lesson Plans Class time will be a combination of direct instruction, independent practice, class discussion, and group activities. Writing assignments of different lengths happen everyday. You will need a pencil in my classroom everyday. Weekly homework options: Reading Log/summary or Articles of the Week Most personal reading will be completed OUTSIDE of class. MOST LESSONS & ASSIGNMENTS POSTED & STORED IN THE CLASSROOM WEEKLY.

Class Rules: R-E-S-P-E-C-T I am being respectful when I quietly enter the classroom; claim my notebook; and find my assigned seat. let my classmates complete their work without interruption or distraction. keep my hands, feet, and irrelevant thoughts to myself. let my classmates finish their conversation/response. keep irrelevant questions and outbursts to a minimum. R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Class Rules: 2. Responsibility I am being responsible when I . . . claim my notebook from the shelf. have my sharpened pencil in hand ready to write. am seated in assigned chair when bell rings. start working on the bell ringer when the bell rings. complete and turn in my homework and classroom assignments. 2. Responsibility

Class Rules: 3. Attendance When I am “here”, I . . . participate in activities in order to learn. hear the information in order to listen to knowledge. interact daily in my notebook, completing bell ringers and assignments. ask questions that lead to relevant learning or assistance. am seated in my assigned seat when the bell rings. On Time = sitting in your seat and working when the bell rings Tardy = you are not sitting in your seat; earns classroom misconduct step. 3. Attendance

Class Rules: 4. Attention Classroom and School Wide Personal Electronic Device (“PED”) Classroom and School Wide Oakland Middle School is NOT liable if your personal device is stolen or lost on campus. In Room 800, Mrs. Mould will announce when PED usage will be permitted. Until then, PED should be silenced and placed out of sight or face down on the corner of your desk. If PED is used in the classroom for non-instructional purposes (music, texting, browsing, checking time, etc.), it will be: collected. taken to office. and an off campus adult will be called to pick it up. 4. Attention

Homework Designed to prepare students for class assignments and/or extend learning beyond the classroom. Students should expect some out-of-class work in the form of larger projects or assignments to assess skills and knowledge over long-range time period. In addition, much of your self-selected text reading will be done OUTSIDE of class. Weekly specific “Homework Grade” accountability check.

Late Work Students must turn in a “Missing Work Log” in lieu of the assignment. 10% of points deducted for each day late. Parents contacted on major assignments OR when missing work exceeds three assignments.

Make-up Work Responsibility of the student to check Edmodo (or other digital resource) & “Make-up File” when absent. Assigned Homework (Reading Log, etc.) is due upon student’s return. Work should be made up within one day for each class day missed.

Assessment & Grading Assessment will be a combination of participation, test/quizzes, projects, presentations, homework, and writing assignments. Grades calculated using a TOTAL POINTS system, Standards Based Grades (SBG). All grades will be posted on INOW portal as they are updated.

Stay in Touch Classes will be set up on Edmodo for students to join. In conjunction with Google and 360 products, students will be able to stay in touch with teachers and peers as well as keep track of past, present, and future assignments.
