Background Indiana Energy Consortium created in 2007 Members include all major IOU’s in state, one major contractor, statewide Workforce Development, and our statewide community college Awarded a $1M DOL grant in 2008 Selected as a pilot state for GIECP

Partnership with JAG Initiated on a state level Coordinated regionally through Work One School visits/presentations Essay contest

Energy BootCamps 2 – 3 day introduction to the industry and careers Hands-on, interactive demos and tours Pipe fusion Heavy equipment operation Electric generating plant tour One-on-one talks with employees who have been in their shoes Intro to college requirements/placement tests

Energy BootCamps Heavy involvement of Workforce Development Coaches Need to foster a sense of belonging and confidence in success Broad promotion efforts needed to attract participants; ideal age is over 19 yrs.old

Lessons Learned Partnerships are key to success! No one group can achieve it alone Every participant needs individual attention Feed them well Passionate speakers are critical to increase interest
