Who is the clinical psychologist? How To Become A Clinical Psychologist?

What distinguishes a clinical psychologist from other mental health professionals?

Psychiatrists A psychiatrist is a physician. Psychiatrists, like all medical doctors, complete general medical school curriculum early in their training. They may prescribe medication, treat physical problems, and give physical examinations. In addition to some training in psychotherapy and psychiatric diagnosis, psychiatrists make extensive use of a variety of medications in treating their patients’ psychological difficulties.

Counseling Psychologists Despite the similarities: The field of clinical psychology is required post graduate- level from accredited post graduate programs unlike counseling psychology Traditionally, counseling psychologists work with normal or moderately maladjusted individuals. Counseling psychologists (a) preventive treatment, (b) consultation, (c) development of outreach (sosyal yardım) programs, (d) vocational counseling, and (e) short-term counseling of from one to fifteen sessions.

Social workers typically focus more on the familial and social determinants of mental health problems. They are more likely to visit the home, the workplace, or the street—the places where their patients spend the bulk of their lives. Their role tends to be active and they are with the practical matters of living.

School Psychologists School psychologists work with students, educators, parents, and school administrators to promote the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of school-age children and adolescents. Accordingly, school psychologists; may conduct psychological and educational assessments, develop learning programs and evaluate their effectiveness, consult with teachers, parents, and school officials on the implementation of the programs as well as issues of school policy or classroom management.

Rehabilitation Psychologists help individuals treat to their physical and psychological disabilities. They often work at acute care facilities, medical centers, rehabilitation institutes, community agencies, hospitals.
