REPEATING QUADRANT - MARKERS ART TO REMEMBER LESSON REPEATING QUADRANT - MARKERS GRADE: 5 Supplies: -ATR paper -Markers Project: Paper orientation can be either horizontal or vertical. Prior to handing out paper, lightly draw a pencil line down and across the middle of the paper to create four quadrants Handout the sample images (i.e., hearts, rainbows, sports equipment, etc.) and ask each child to come up with a single object to use in their picture. Students will recreate the single image four times – once in each quadrant. They will decorate each quadrant differently to create a unique picture but of the same object. Art Lesson: Jim Dine- Photographer Jim Dine (1935 – present), was born in Cincinnati Ohio and traveled abroad during his career. His original work was considered Pop Art as he incorporated every day objects into his art. After traveling to Europe, he returned in the 1970’s and made a dramatic switch from Pop Art towards life drawings. He avoided the minimalism art style that many artists were adopting but instead picked up the full essence of his subject in his artwork. “Drawing is not an exercise.
