Athletics Policies Various Athletics Policies approved consistent with Emergency Approval policy (December 2011). Forwarded to Board of Trustee’s for review and approval during February 2012 meeting. Strategic Initiatives Securely anchor the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to the educational mission of the institution. Establish the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as a center of operational and competitive excellence. Position the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to fully realize all benefits associated with the changing landscape in intercollegiate athletics nationally. BOT Athletics Report 2/17/2012

NCAA Certification NCAA staff responded to our Certification Self-Study instrument report on January 13, 2012. We responded to issues identified in NCAA staff review on February 8, 2012. Committee on Athletics Certification will evaluate report and our responses, and determine if a site visit is warranted. We will have NCAA decision no later than July 2012. Football APR Status We are currently under the Level Three APR penalty structure in Football, which includes all penalties in Level One and Two. We have proposed a waiver to the NCAA for part of our Level Three penalty. We have been allowed to proceed as if our proposed waiver has been approved for spring 2012. We will have an in-person review with the NCAA appeal board on April 23, 2012. Any additional penalties will be enforced during the 2013 year. BOT Athletics Report 2/17/2012
