CS2310 Zihang Huang Project :gesture recognition using Kinect First milestone My project is to recognize human pose correctly using Kinect. For home care system, how do we communicate with patient at the home is a big challenge. We usually will contact patient with phone, but what if under emergency, the patient cannot answer phone call from hospital care manager. Therefore, a new way to communicate with patient is introduced- that is using Kinect, a camera based sensor, to capture and analyze patient pose so that home care staff can acquire vary important information immediately. Kinect was introduced to our world from 2009 produced by Microsoft team. It includes a RGB camera and a depth camera. So as to estimate human gesture correctly, I need to recognize human hand, head, arm, leg and torso first using computer vision algorithm. Second, I will specify some specific patterns meaning different kinds of symptoms. Once Kinect captures a series of frames of specific patterns, a message will be sent to hospital emergency manager.
