About John Smith 1580-1631 I. His Life A. 3 Phases 1. Adventurer - soldier - adventurer - slave - pirate

2. Colonist - helped est. Jamestown -served as governor - captured by Indians - able to keep Jmstwn from destruction by laziness of colonists and threats by Indians - seriously injured (1609) & never returned to NW
