Kaj določa Vodna direktiva? Direktiva določa pravni okvir za varovanje in ohranjanje čistih voda po vsej Evropi ter za zagotavljanje njihove dolgoročne in trajnostne rabe. Uvaja inovativnost pri upravljanju voda, ki temelji na povodjih kot naravnih geografskih in hidroloških enotah. Pri tem določa državam članicam posebne roke za doseganje velikopoteznih okoljskih ciljev pri vodnih ekosistemih.
