Smartsheet at Austin Energy

AE-Google Project Smartsheet Video AE was introduced to Smarthsheet by an engineering firm working with Google as a way for everyone to follow the project on a web based application. Smartsheet gave everyone involved in the project the ability to make changes and work simultaneously on the same sheet. Smartsheet Video -The Google project started off using a standard excel sheet but issues arose when multiple people needed to edit the document at once or if someone left the document open. -Being a Google project, Google wanted to use Google Docs online but a gmail account was required and AE IT would not allow for that. -Smartsheet was finally suggested by an engineering firm working with Google as a way for all parties to follow each project in an easy to use web based environment that everyone could edit simultaneously. -Smartsheet is web based so it can be accessed from any computer or phone that has internet access.

AE – Google Project The AE-Google team used Smartsheet to track billing, pole counts, needed electrical make ready, and much more. -After the success with using Smartsheet on the Google project, Austin Energy eventually went on to buy an enterprise license to use company wide. -Smartsheet has since been integrated into most areas of Austin Energy allowing for much easier collaboration and transparency.

AE – IAM – Pole Attachments The AE-IAM group uses Smartsheet to track pole attachment applications, electrical make ready, application statuses as well as a number of other uses. AE – IAM – Pole Attachments Smartsheet allows the IAM group to track applications in their varying stages of completion as well as share those sheets with the communication companies so they can track the progress of their applications as well. Utilizing the many functions of Smartsheet, AE can use those same sheets to keep an accurate pole count of the applications in a given month and/or year.
