 Prokaryotes  Pro=before-Karyotes= nut (nucleus)  These cells have no nucleus Examples: bacteria  Eukaryotes  Eu=good-Karyote= nut (nucleus)  These.
Learning Goal Understand that all living things are made of cells. Compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
Protists Kingdom Protista. Characteristics of Protists most live in water (though some live in moist soil or even the human body) A protist is any eukaryotic.

Classification Review 7th Grade Science

To belong to the plant Kingdom, you must…. List at least 2 qualifications. Be multi-cellular Eukaryotic (have a nucleus) Have chlorophyll; Have cell walls; Photosynthesize; Have Large Central Vacuoles Be fixed in one place (they don’t move like an animal); Circulate fluids (like rainwater) through their bodies; Absorb fluids from the moisture that surrounds them; How they reproduce (e.g., by spores or different kinds of seeds);

Mrs. Nerg stands for… Movement Reproduction Sensitive Nutrition Excretion Respiration Grow

Mrs. Nerg can help us figure out…

To belong to the animal Kingdom you must… List at least 2 qualifications Be multi-cellular Eukaryotic (have a nucleus) Independently move at some point in your life Fixed body plan as you grow and develop / some can metamorph into adult stages Eat other organisms for energy.

What does King Phillip stand for? C O F G S

An organism that is multi-cellular and can make its own food would be in which kingdom?   A. Plant B. Animal C. Fungi D. Monera E. Protista

Explain how and what “king phillip” is used for.

Describe some major differences between plants and animals.

Which group contains only living or once-living matter. a Which group contains only living or once-living matter? a. hair, glass, steel, ink b. hair, wood, blood, leaf c. paper, sand, salt, wool d. steel, salt, rubber, rock

Explain how organisms obtain their scientific name.

What are some differences between the protest and moneran kingdom list them

Protist: Moneran: Amoeba, algae, paramecia Single celled Micro organism Can move about with cilia, flagella No cell wall Eukaryotic (have a nucleus) Reproduce sexually or asexually Moneran: Bacteria Has a cell wall Prokaryotic (has no nucleus) Reproduce asexually – binary fission Larger and more diverse that the Protist Kingdom

How would you classify this animal. A. phylum mollusca B How would you classify this animal?   A. phylum mollusca B. class mammalia C. class aves D. class fish

The Monera and Protists were kingdoms added most recently to scientific classification systems. What helped scientists learn more about them? A. When scientists learned that all life on Earth was related. B. When it became clear Monerans and Protists caused disease C. When all the information about the other kingdoms was found. D. When new microscopes allowed viewing of very small organisms.

Which of the following is a characteristic of ONLY bacteria?   A. multicellular B. no nucleus C. cannot move D. single-celled

What is Classification?
