Style The way a writer writes and the technique which an individual author uses in his writing
Dialogue A written or spoken conversation between two or more people.
Pun A play on words in which a humorous effect is produced by using a word that suggests two or more meanings Examples: An elephant’s opinion carries a lot of weight. A horse is a very stable animal
Irony A figure of speech in which words are used in such a way that their intended meaning is different from the actual meaning of the words.
Oxymoron A figure of speech in which two opposite ideas are joined to create an effect. The common oxymoron phrase is a combination of an adjective proceeded by a noun with contrasting meanings e.g. “cruel kindness.”
Stage Directions An instruction written into the script of a play, indicating stage actions, movements of performers, or production requirements
