“Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears!” (1 Sam. 3)

Samuel said, “Speak, Lord, for your servant hears” when confronting Israel about their false beliefs (1 Samuel 7:3) Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines." (NKJV)

Response to Samuel’s Admonition: (1 Samuel 7:4) So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the LORD only. (NKJV)

Salt & Light (Matthew 5:10-16) Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how…

Salt & Light …shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (NKJV)

Christians Must Confront False Beliefs (Acts 8:3-4) As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison. Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. (NKJV) (Acts 11:9) "But the voice answered me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call common.' (NKJV)

Christians Must Confront False Beliefs (1 Peter 3:15) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; (NKJV)

Two Good Attitudes: Samuel: (1 Samuel 3:10) Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears." (NKJV) Eli: (1 Samuel 3:18) Then Samuel told him everything, and hid nothing from him. And he said, "It is the LORD. Let Him do what seems good to Him." (NKJV)

Samuel said, “Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears” When Israel asked for a king. (1 Samuel 8:3-5) But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice. Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations." (NKJV)

Heartbreaking News: (1 Samuel 8:6) But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." So Samuel prayed to the LORD. (NKJV)

Rejecting the Lord’s Messengers = Rejecting the Lord Himself (1 Samuel 8:7-9) And the LORD said to Samuel, "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. "According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day-with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods-so they are doing to you also. "Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them." (NKJV)

Samuel Again Speaking in a Difficult Situation: (1 Samuel 10:18-19) and said to the children of Israel, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all kingdoms and from those who oppressed you.' "But you have today rejected your God, who Himself saved you from all your adversities and your tribulations; and you have said to Him, 'No, set a king over us!' Now therefore, present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your clans." (NKJV)

Samuel said, “Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears” when he had to remove Saul from being king over Israel . (1 Samuel 15:23) For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king." (NKJV)

Christians Must Withdraw From One Who Stops Following the Lord (2 Thessalonians 3:6) But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. (NKJV)

If you follow the Lord, He will not let you fall! (1 Samuel 3:19) So Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. (NKJV)

Understand the will of the Lord (Ephesians 5:17) Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (NKJV)

God, through His inspired words tells us how people become His followers: Hearing (Rom. 10:17) Believing (Jn. 8:24) Repenting (Lk. 13:3) Confessing (Mat. 10:32-33) Being obedient to His will for us, which includes baptism (1 Pet. 1:21) And living a life like Samuel in obedient service to Him (Rev. 2:10)
