WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!

What a run through the playoffs. UNBELIEVABLE. Where do I start What a run through the playoffs!  UNBELIEVABLE!  Where do I start!  All the great plays!  Our little Giants never quit!  They would not be denied what just seemed to be their destiny - Super Bowl Champions! After witnessing the amazing comeback win against the Cowboys back in Week 6, I thought I would never see anything that amazing again.  Boy, was I wrong.  This weekend’s playoff run and Super Bowl victory topped that Cowboy win by a mile. The Giants ended the season in third place and as such were the third seed in the playoff field of eight teams.  First up Saturday morning at 9 AM, were the sixth seeded Falcons.  The Giants had managed to beat the Falcons early in the season but it was a close affair.  A 6-0 win in a tight defensive battle.  The Giants exploded out to an early lead with touchdowns by Lane, Garrett and Elijah.  Garrett's touchdown grab was spectacular.  He and the defender both caught the ball simultaneously but Garrett pulled it away for the score.  The Giants led at halftime 21-6.  The second half was a different story all together.  The "dirty birds" defense had clamped down on the Giants offense.  The Falcons managed to get one touchdown but that was the extent of the scoring during the second half as the Giants won the game 21-12.

Next up, a rematch against the Raiders Next up, a rematch against the Raiders.  The Raiders blew-out the Giants in Week 2 of the regular season, 45 - 22.  The Giants coaches and parents seeked revenge.  The little Giants probably did not even remember losing to them two months ago.  These sweet, innocent little kids routinely ask after the games "Did we win?".  The game was a battle until the end.  “Mad Max” Maxine was a remarkable center, and Lane ran the ball like a pro.  Joe Montana (as the coach calls him) turned into Barry Sanders.  With lightning quick moves Lane ran all over the field.  Alex made an appearance as quarterback, and showed us all what a commanding leader he could be. Brenden was unstoppable chasing those Raiders! With the Giants up 21 - 20, the Raiders had the ball on the Giants 3 yard line.  With time running out, the Raiders tried one last play.  A pass to the Raider receiver fell short of his hands and the ball fell to the ground.  The possession changed over to the Giants with less than a minute to play and the Giants simply ran out the clock and posted yet another amazing victory.  This victory gave them the opportunity to play in the first Rookie League Super Bowl. Way to go GIANTS!!

The Super Bowl match-up with the Broncos (the number 1 seed), also provided the Giants with an opportunity to seek some revenge for a regular season loss.  In Week 7, the Giants lost a heart-breaker against the Broncos.  The Giants led the entire game and then a late game interception with a 19 - 14 Giants lead provided the Broncos the opportunity they needed to win.  They went down field and scored a late game touchdown and beat the Giants 22 - 19.  This game was going to be special but we had no idea just how special. The Giants lost the opening coin toss and the Broncos took the ball and control.  On the second play from scrimmage, the Bronco running back ran the length of the field for a touchdown and an early lead.  This game was a battle until the end.  Kyle stayed with the Broncos every step, and grabbed flags like nobody’s business. The Broncos led the entire game.  In the final minutes, the Broncos led 14-12.  The Broncos were threatening to score a final blow with about 5 minutes to play.  With a first down on the Giants 3 yard line, they had three chances to score a touchdown that would have sealed the win for them.  The Giants defense had other plans.  All three pass attempts went incomplete and the ball was turned over to the Giants.

On one play, Lane dove for a pass and batted down the ball and stop a touchdown.  He slammed his head on the ground and was crying in pain.  He came off the field for one play (as is the rule with an injury) and immediately wanted back in.  He came back in on the next play.  The Giants started their final drive with a amazing long pass play to Jacob.  With Will as center acting as the decoy, Jacob made a great catch on the perfectly thrown ball from Lane.  With the ball on about the five yard line and less than a minute to play, Lane dropped back on the next play and threw a bullet to Garrett in the end zone.  The pass was incomplete.  With about 30 seconds to play and on 3rd down, Lane dropped back for a last final shot at winning the game.  He threw another bullet, this time to Elijah in the middle of the end zone for the go ahead touchdown.  The two point conversion failed.

The score was Giants 18, Broncos 14 The score was Giants 18, Broncos 14.  The Broncos started on their five yard line with 15 seconds to play and 2 timeouts.  They had time for three more plays.  They chose to run the first two plays and got the ball out to about their own 30 yard line.  With 3 seconds left, they selected to pass for their final play.  The ball was intercepted by the Giants Big Man, Elijah, and the Super Bowl Crown belonged to the Giants. It is difficult to give a detailed play-by-play of each game.  They all run together in my mind.  There were so many great plays in all three games.  These little Giants played their guts out.

This team truly demonstrated what it takes to be Champions This team truly demonstrated what it takes to be Champions.  They truly deserve to be Champions!  They beat teams that were physically bigger than them in all aspects but one - their hearts. Congratulations Giants!!!!!!  Great job Coach John and Coach Jeff!  You really did a great job reaching and teaching the children.  Thank you.  What many people didn’t know was that along about game 5, Coach John promised the kids that if they won the Super Bowl, they could shave his head. Coach Jeff volunteered to dye his hair pink. Check out the pictures of our fabulous coaches and their new do’s!!!! The play-by-play for the final three games was generously provided by one of the Giants biggest fans, Garrett’s Dad. Thank so much for sharing this with us. 
