NEZ PERCE

The Nez Perce people were warriors and known for their thought out and intelligent strategies in battle.  The Nez Perce people helped Lewis and Clark in their travels in the Northwest. Lewis and Clark recorded how peaceful and helpful the Nez Perce people are, in their journal.

Do you know what longhouses were like in Nez Perce Do you know what longhouses were like in Nez Perce? Longhouses are made of bark because women gathered bark in late spring when it was easier to peel. Bark was used to cover the sides and roof of the longhouses. The poles were tied to trees and bent to make a longhouse.

Government Each village was led by a headman, and was made up of several related, extended families.

Clothing The Nez Perce usually made their clothing out of deerskin. The women usually made their clothing out of mountain sheep skin.
