“Parent” Means….. A parent, stepparent, or foster parent of a student. A person who has legal custody of a student pursuant to a court order and with whom the student resides.

What Parent Can Serve on the SBDM Council Shall not be an employee or the relative of an employee of the school in which the parent serves. Shall not be employees or relatives of employees of the district’s central office, nor shall they be a local board member or his/her spouse. Relative is defined as “father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law.

Minority Member Must have 8% of your student population listed as minority. Minority is defined as American Indian, Alaskan Native, African-American, Hispanic, including persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Central or South American Origin, Pacific Islander, or other ethnic group under-represented in the schools.

Who Can Vote for Parent Member If they have a student pre-registered to attend school during the term of office. (check council bylaws) Parents of current students who will be continuing at the same school in the fall. Parents of new students who are pre-registered to attend the school in the fall, such as a student attending school for the first time. Teachers who has a child pre-registered in the same school in which they work. They can also vote in the teacher election.
