VIRTUAL CLASSROOM Name of project : Downs Syndrome and Society Educator(s) Tea Nonikashvili School Brief descriftion of school context Gori, Khidistavi Public School & Gori Gimnasium of Venereble Father George of Mount Athos School website The blog of the class gmgimnazia.ge Content/Subject Areas Biology – IT Age/Grade Level XI Project Objectives Improve pupils’ research, analysis, comparison, Collaboration, communication, deduction skills. The project Includes making learning resources by using informational technologies.

Brief description of the project and the background. Project Description Brief description of the project and the background. What are the stated objectives and learning outcomes? Is the learning activity long-term? Does it call on students to plan their work and assess their work over time? Please add background information files if needed. See how to embed documents in notes. Design of the Learning Environment Examples of planning (e.g. pedagogic approach, links to resources used). Please highlight creativity and innovative teaching practices. Emphasize to what extent the planning for learning facilitates the development of different dimensions of 21st century skills e.g. knowledge building, use of ICT for learning, problem-solving and innovation, self-regulation, collaboration and skilled communication. Pupils will look for information about Down syndrome and its causes. During the project participants will be allowed to contact children with Down syndrome and research their abilities and consider variety methods of integration with community. They will discuss and express opinions about people with Down syndrome. They will also discus syndrome causes, methods of cell division: Mitosis and Meiosis, speak about their breaking and results, They’ll present method cell division (in the school yard) The project deals with the problem of solving a specific problem The study of Down syndrome, a chromosomal abnormalities are observed in medical research, and whether the parent’s moral, ethical and legal right to terminate a pregnancy. The problem is with the real situation. Together with pupils drawn up an action plan and implement activities. Lesson: Down syndrome and Society. ( Collecting information about Down syndrome) Preparations for the charity event – for 2 weeks, in the classes asked to provide information on children with Down syndrome and urge children to take part in the charity event, which will be implemented in the organization of children with disabilities of Gori Simulation - methods of cell division (mitosis). Students are given the task to present the dramatization of the process of mitosis or meiosis, Students choose mitosis process. Students will plan and execute the assignment and elected leaders in different directions. Create video resources. Project Summary, Presentation. Continuetion of the project - Charity event 2 – concert Dense Ensamble ,,SHUSHARI”-KhidistaviPublic School & Gori Gimnasium for deseabled children Exhibition and sale - handicraft by deseabled children.

The project was announced by pupils of the school charity week. Evidence of Learning Examples of products and outcomes created by the learners throughout the project – including use of ICT. What sort of ICT is used and how has it been used in the project. To what extent do students use ICT in ways that support knowledge building, collaboration, or learning beyond the classroom? Does ICT use enable new knowledge-building/collaboration/learning beyond the classroom opportunities that would not have been possible without it? Have digital tools been used in imaginative and ground-breaking ways to support learning processes? Please add files, videos etc. which documents clearly the learning process and evidence of students’ learning The project was announced by pupils of the school charity week. Students visited children with disabilities. Offered friendship and the future development of joint project. A contest was held at school named ,,a letter to my unonymous friend” , All letters were collected and were give those children with Down Syndrome. They Took photos, posted on the blog and urged their peers to a charity, Visiting with children. Charity event 2 Exhibition They created Video Collage ,,we will still come” Made a presentation on Down syndrome and the society, and created blog and presentation The students created a video mitosis, where clearly, blithely and publicly presented the phases of cell division. Discussed why mistake occus while cell splitting. Video resources were created by using a digital camera, video processed and placed on the youtube.com This will make students be more creative and active.

The students analyzed the problems of children with Down syndrome. Knowledge Building & Critical Thinking Examples of how the learning activities require students to move beyond reproducing what they have learned to building knowledge through interpretation, analysis, synthesis, or evaluation. Extended Learning Beyond the Classroom If the learning experience is not bound by classroom walls, time-frame of conventional lessons, subject parameters – please show examples of this. If the project addresses real world issues (i.e. authentic situation and data from outside the classroom) or has meaningful impact on communities locally and / or globally please show examples of this. This project involves the integration of children with Down syndrome with peers, make friends with other pupils. Help other children to see the positive sides of a child with Down syndrome. The students analyzed the problems of children with Down syndrome. Compared their ways of live with their classmates, came into conclusion discussed about the ways to solve the problem. Pupils throughout the school inform Down syndrome Causes and most popular methods of cell division (mitosis, meiosis) role – playing dramatization performance. Students work independently around scenario. Highlight the major issues. Jointly decide on the presentation steps. (Outline, time) During the Charity event and presenting Mitosis memorable photos were taken and video was recorded as well. The sad reality is that children have very little information about Down syndrome and most of them do not have a friend with down syndrome. Syndrome does not enterfare in friendships. A child With Down syndrome is ioyful and sensitive. It is important for them to be equal part of society as others are. Positive expectations of those children with Down syndrome will have the opportunity to demonstrate their potential.

Collaboration Examples of how the students work with other people, sharing responsibility while making substantive decisions for developing a joint product, a design, or an answer to a complex question. Students may be collaborating with their peers in the classroom, or with students or adults outside the classroom Cutting Edge Use of Technology for Learning The learning activity involves students’ use of ICT – whether or not the use of ICT helps students build knowledge/collaborate or learn beyond the classroom, and whether or not students could build the same knowledge/ collaborate or learn beyond the classroom in similar ways without using ICT In the beginning of project, students eagerly agreed to participate joint working plan. Set Dates Charity day Presentation day The students look for information about Down syndrome. Groups By using this information they take part in discussion and talk about what society thinks about this syndrome. They discus about their position and make conclusion, also they discus about amniocentesis sides and if couple has a moral, ethical and legal to right step the pregnancy when there is a chromosomical mistake. They talk why the mistake huppens during the mitosis process. They plan to feign the mitosis process. They choose a go leader and outside the class. The students offer other students to take part in project, record a video but the timelimit is a minute for each phase. So interphase and four phase of mitosis include 5 minutes. How to use IT? Look for information and make presentation, take a photos and record a video of faigh mitosis process, it should be educational video resource.

Every Down syndrome child is unique! Educator as Innovator and Change Agent In environments where innovative teaching is challenging, have innovative teaching practices and ICT been used in instrumental ways to change how students learn. Does the educator demonstrate evidence of continuous improvement in their professional practice, model lifelong learning and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by supporting other educator’s development and understanding of the impact on learning of the effective use of digital technologies? The main problem that occurs while teaching is make students be more motivated and give facts in an interesting way. Teaching with innovative methods students have desire to make new resources. This process serves to develoupe children in many ways that will help them to be successful in their lives. In the beginning of the process there were quite many kids in the class , who thought stop pragnance if baby has a Down syndrome. But when the project was finished those children exchanged Down Syndrome Children their personal information and offered future relationship. The Project was productive. It helped to sympathize that is quite important for development. After the project they realis that people with down syndrome. They are perfect humans, no one has right to peprive the life. Every Down syndrome child is unique!
